About Me:

My mom taught me to sew when I was young - I started out making blankets for my dolls, then graduated to small projects like drawstring bags. As far back as I can remember I’ve loved the look of quilts, but didn’t know anyone who could teach me.

Finally in university, I decided that I could handle the challenge and started teaching myself to quilt. My very first pieced project was a pretty wonky table runner that I didn’t even quilt together but I was definitely hooked. I made my first quilted blanket when I was pregnant with my oldest son. There’s a lot I would change if I redid that quilt now but my son loves it and I like seeing the progress I’ve made in the last few years.

Even though my mom doesn’t quilt, she introduced me to longarm quilting. She worked in a store that sold sewing machines and eventually ended up buying one. At the time, we lived thousands of miles apart so I only got to use it once, while home for a christmas vacation. Shortly before my third baby was born, my parents decided to move to Ottawa (and in with my family for 1.5 years), bringing the longarm machine with them!

Since then, quilting has only brought me more and more enjoyment. It is my recharge time, my hobby, my passion. I hope to share this love and help others get the same sense of satisfaction seeing their own projects finished and being loved!

Happy Quilting!

Heather
